# $DHOOKS

$DHOOKS is the protocol's token. Fixed supply of 1,000,000,000, no mint function, on Robinhood Chain. Its address is published on the [Addresses](/addresses.md) page when it exists.

You do not need $DHOOKS to launch, trade, hold, verify or evaluate anything. No rule in any template requires it.

## What it does

* **Buybacks.** A published share of the protocol's net fee income buys $DHOOKS on the open market and burns it. A contract does it; anyone can call it. It is how the protocol spends part of its revenue, not a floor under anything.
* **Governance.** $DHOOKS holders decide which templates are added, which quote assets are allowed, which verifiers are on the list, and parameter changes within the bounds in [The numbers](/the-numbers.md). Proposals are public; execution is through the protocol multisig.
* **Later, weight.** A future release lets $DHOOKS be staked to increase a wallet's weight in the holders pools of the markets it holds, up to a published cap. It will be written up on its own and reviewed before it ships.

## Order

$DHOOKS comes before the protocol so the build can be funded in the open. Holding it before the protocol runs is holding a position in this document. Read [Straight talk](/straight-talk.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.dynamichooks.com/dhooks-token.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
